I thought this would be the week to set a bunch of new records on my flat course, especially after the Monday time. After a rest day, the first day back usually puts in a time of a minute to minute and a half slower than what I'll put in the rest of the week. But no, gusty winds all the rest of the week hurt my chances there. I did manage to break my record from last year, which is the fastest I've ever been, but I turned myself inside out that day against the wind. That's not a good gauge for my base fitness. Plus, I was really feeling the fatigue from this 3-week block of getting back into my normal high cadence spinning in a heavier gear. Thank goodness this is the end of my 12-week program, and I stay off the bike for a week. I'll get some real recovery before I start my next batch of training blocks concentrating on my little helper muscles again. They got a break during this last 3 weeks, and after next week, break-time is over.

This whole episode was heh. Our three side heroines get to shine as they search for eternal beauty from a treasure map. With elements of Indiana Jones, and the exact same feel as the Secret of Monkey Island, I was impressed with the comedic writing.

A big dead angry fish shooting bullets was not a scene I was expecting.

When Fukutomi and Toudou starting glowing yellow and blue, meaning they were about to unleash their superpowers, with the sound of their teammates catching up from the rear, I got chills. It's on like Donkey Kong!

Izumida needs to get a Fukutomi translator. When he heard his captain say that dead weight should be dropped, he thought he was calling him, Arakita, and Shinkai dead weight. As if. This happened to him before, when Fukutomi told him he didn't need to ride his bike anymore to get stronger. Shinkai was there to tell him, uh no, he means you have to work out, your riding is fine.

I liked how Toudou didn't even flinch when he let Midousuji get the mountain sprint. He got his epic battle with Makishima. No one else is worthy for S-Class effort.

It's too bad the Kyoto Fushimi guys fell under the sway of Midousuji. Ishigaki and his team looked like they had fun together.

No, really. I don't even... Walker decides to cross right in front of me.

From my rollerblading days, I've hated walkers on multi-use paths. Runners and joggers are fine, except when you're coming from behind them, because they can usually judge distance, and are used to paying attention to their surroundings. But trying to warn a jogger or runner that you're passing on their left gives you a 50-50 chance of them jumping to their left. Better just to yell, "Watch out!" to make them freeze so you can pass safely.

Walkers are totally different. Can't judge distance, can't judge speed, don't check their immediate vicinity before suddenly stopping, suddenly changing direction, suddenly pointing... Like this lady, who I'm sure is very nice most of the time, checked oncoming traffic, namely me, checked the other way, but then just stepped into the street without checking again. Why? Can't judge distance, can't judge speed, doesn't check immediate vicinity. Typical walker.

Climbing and rolling week for getting my fast cadence and rhythm back on the slopes, and I destroyed several records. Absolutely devastated them! Putting about 1:30 on most of them, even within the same week. When I did these courses last year as I was rebuilding my form, I wondered and hoped if I could break the 50 minute mark on some of my shorter climbing and rolling courses the next year. This week gave my answer, "Oh yeah!" I'm not even done building yet. It takes me 6 months to build my base fitness for the rest of the year. I'm even faster on the descents from the beginning of the year. Like the Glenoaks descent: 30 seconds faster just falling down a hill.

Also, cars really need to use the turnouts on long twisty descents. Cyclists can go way faster in the turns than some compact car can, especially when the driver is not confident handling the steering.

Hashirama Shippuuden begins now! He's not exactly the heroic personality his legends make him out to be. He starts telling Sasuke how the shinobi world began.

If Naruto ever becomes Hokage, he's going to be exactly like Hashirama: a big huge chakra ball who's a bit loud and too expressive.

Seeing all the Hokages talking together had me smiling from ear to ear the whole time. Especially Minato sensing Naruto and the 9-tails fighting together as friends. What a sense of relief and fatherly pride he must feel knowing his last act in protecting Naruto all worked out.

Tsunade got her bad gambling habit from Hashirama? Well, he gambled on Madara too, and look how that turned out.

They're all still the legendary Hokages, though, as Tobirama lifts one finger and scares the water out of Suigetsu.

Man, poor Tobirama. Having to put up with Hashirama as his brother, no wonder he's so serious.

Good exposition on the Uchiha, and having Tobirama explain it was even better. He comes off as hating them in his harsh manner, but he hates everybody, and he understood the Uchiha very well. Cursed to feel love so much, that when they felt the loss of that love, the negative emotions gave them the Sharingan. Being the most powerful Uchiha meant losing the most people they loved in their lives. That's a tragic curse if there ever was one.

Next time, we see how Hashirama and Madara became friends even in the midst of the brutal clan wars before the whole shinobi village system came about.

I thought Kiriko had all this Flower Spray training, so why is the Sex Witch able to affect her with her sexy touching? I don't much like this damsel in distress version of Kiriko.

Even in trying times, Ryoma knows how to keep a positive attitude.

Midousuji wins the sprint by extreme bike throw. Happy times for Sohoku as all 6 reunite. Hakone's morale appears to be broken.

Midousuji got his sprint point and checked off another bullet point in his plan, but it cost him two more cards that he was probably saving for later. His strategy is still working, but he's working hard to make sure all the minor goals are met.

I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise for Midousuji to be able to lean back so far on the bike if he was able to lean so far forward. Still, that's a right freakshow he's putting on.

Cycling club? What's that? This is the Anime Club and we just happen to like riding bikes, right?

Kinjou and Makishima knew the hard part for Onoda was going to be the flats, but enduring that before he has fun on the gentle slope was all part of the preparation.

Did the screen get blurry when Tadokoro saw those yellow jerseys in the distance? And why did I get this lump in my throat? Damn pollen in the air...

Tadokoro shed manly tears of gratitude, but it was up to Kinjou to express the entire team's emotion to Onoda.
